The EU makes a Major Financial Contribution for strengthening of the Civil Society in Armenia

The EU makes a major contribution for the development of civil society institutions in Armenia. For this purpose the Grant Contract of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Action was signed today.

Mr. Mr. Hoa-Binh Adjemian, Head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation in Armenia and Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO signed the Grant Contract.

The Action will be implemented by a Consortium of civil society organizations, which are “Armenian Lawyers’ Association”, Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia. “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” shall coordinate the activities of the Consortium.

The overall objective of the Action is to enhance the influence of CSOs on the public policy process, and the specific objectives are to strengthen the ability of CSOs to build coalitions and to strengthen the ability of CSOs to focus on constructive and strategic policy engagement with local and central government partners. The Action shall a grant component, under which sub-grants will be provided to civil society organizations.

The target groups of the Action are civil society and government stakeholders in the justice, education and business sectors and the local self-government sector. The total cost of the Action is about 2.2 million Euros of which the EU contribution is 2.000.000 Euros.
