President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
He was re-elected President for a four-year term at the latest conference held on 30 April 2024. His 28 years of professional experience encompass the management of civil society organizations (CSOs) and media outlets, human rights protection, anti-corruption activities, and professional practice. His legal experience covers civil, non-profit, commercial, corporate, labor, and constitutional law.
Karen Zadoyan is the originator of the idea behind and founder of Iravaban.net, an independent specialized media outlet. He was among those who laid the foundations for anti-corruption reforms in the Republic of Armenia and continues to lead these reforms together with his partners. In 2016, he presented the Government of the Republic of Armenia with a roadmap for implementing anti-corruption reforms in the country, thereby initiating the reform process. In January 2020, he served as a member of the Specialized Commission on Constitutional Reforms established by a decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University (YSU) and completed the Future Media Management programme at the Media Studies Centre of the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. He is also a member of the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia.

Marat Atovmyan was re-elected as a member of the Board of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA) for a four-year term at the latest conference held on 30 April 2024. He was appointed Vice-President for International Affairs by the President of the ALA.
Marat Atovmyan has 28 years of professional experience. He has worked in public institutions, international organizations, and civil society organizations. He has also served as an expert in various international programmes. He heads ATOVMYAN Law and Consulting Firm and lectures at several universities. He has delivered numerous lectures on human rights, integrity, good governance, and anti-corruption both in Armenia and abroad.
He is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia, a member of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government, and a member of the Board of the Swiss Alumni Association.

Arpine Yeghikyan was re-elected as a member of the Board of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA) for a four-year term by a decision adopted at the latest conference held on 30 April 2024.
Arpine Yeghikyan has 11 years of professional experience, including legal practice and work with commercial and civil society organizations. She has served as an expert in several projects, conducted monitoring and legal assessments, and has experience in organizational management and training.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University (YSU) and the Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia. She is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.

Karen Kocharyan was elected as a member of the Board of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA) for a four-year term by a decision adopted at the latest conference held on 30 April 2024.
Karen Kocharyan has eight years of legal experience, including six years of practicing as an advocate. He has held managerial positions in commercial and civil society organizations.
He has served as an expert in several projects and conducted monitoring and legal assessments.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University and is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.

Executive Director of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
Artak Saribekyan has been a member of the organization since its establishment. In 2004, he was appointed Executive Director by an order of the President of the organization. He is responsible for organizing and coordinating the organization’s day-to-day operations.
Within projects implemented by the organization, he has held various positions, including Project Manager, Grants Officer, and Finance Officer.
He graduated from the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics of Yerevan State University.

Gayane Gevorgyan has been serving as the Coordinator of the Shirak Regional Branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association since December 2007.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law of Yerevan University of Management and is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.
Gayane Gevorgyan has 13 years of professional legal experience, including six years of advocacy practice. She has taught at Yerevan University of Management, Haybusak University, and Gyumri Progress University.

Project Assistant at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
Anahit has been a member of the organization since 2023. She supports the EU-funded “Budgets for Citizens” Project and the training programmes implemented within its framework.
She also serves as the Coordinator of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders, implemented by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
With strong communication skills, she is responsible for planning and organizing events, as well as establishing cooperative relationships with representatives of the public, private, and civil society sectors.
She also manages the promotion of social media platforms to raise public awareness.
She graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Service at Brusov State University and is an alumna of Transparency International’s School on Integrity.

Lawyer at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
Marianna Avagyan serves as the lawyer for the project “Strengthening Mechanisms for the Protection of the Rights of Persons Forcibly Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh” and supports efforts to address the legal issues faced by people forcibly displaced from Artsakh.
She graduated in Law from the Faculty of History and Law of Artsakh State University (ASU).
In 2023, she obtained her master’s degree.
She worked as a Chief Specialist in the Legal Department of the State Administrative Institution of the Housing Issues Committee of the Republic of Artsakh.
She has been a member of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association since 2024.

Expert at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
Syuzanna Soghomonyan has been actively involved in the implementation of anti-corruption reforms in Armenia. She has participated in drafting an alternative law on an independent anti-corruption body, whistleblowing system reforms, the development of anti-corruption policies, and efforts to improve mechanisms for corruption prevention, anti-corruption education, and public awareness. She has extensive experience in advocacy.
Suzanna Soghomonyan graduated from the American University of Armenia and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, obtaining a Master’s degree in Law. She also completed the advanced summer course “Leadership and Management for Integrity” at Central European University (CEU).
In 2020–2021, she served as a non-judge member of the Ethics and Disciplinary Issues Committee of the General Assembly of Judges. In 2017, Suzanna Soghomonyan was one of the anti-corruption leaders who travelled to the United Kingdom to support the Government of Armenia, through training meetings, in implementing the 2015–2018 Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan.
She lectures at the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders. She has also served as a national legal expert and consultant in projects funded by the European Union (EU), the Council of Europe (CoE), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), and the embassies of the United States, the Czech Republic, and Germany in Armenia.
Syuzanna Soghomonyan is a member of the EU–Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) Civil Society Platform, representing the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.

Expert at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
Since 2014, Mariam Zadoyan has been involved in numerous projects as a national legal expert and consultant in initiatives funded by the European Union (EU), the Council of Europe (CoE), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the World Bank, and the embassies of the United States and Germany in Armenia. These projects have focused on developing, advocating for, implementing, and monitoring inclusive and evidence-based public policies in the following areas: public administration, good governance, anti-corruption, judicial reforms, human rights, gender equality, compliance, public procurement, the business environment, and civil society organizations (CSOs). Her work has contributed to several dozen reforms in these fields.
She is currently involved in the USAID-funded projects “Comprehensive Promotion of the Financial Viability of CSOs in Armenia” and “Blow the Whistle, Armenia!”, as well as the EU-funded project “Strengthening Mechanisms for the Protection of the Rights of Persons Forcibly Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.”
She also has extensive experience in project management and capacity development. She coordinates the Association’s electronic platforms for whistleblowing (Bizprotect and Haytnir) and for strengthening mechanisms to protect the rights of persons forcibly displaced from Artsakh (ArmRights.am).
She has been a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia since 2015. Her professional expertise covers corporate, civil, labor, administrative, and international law. In 2018, she represented the Chamber of Advocates on the Competition Council of the Corruption Prevention Commission. From 2019 to 2021, she represented the Armenian Lawyers’ Association on the Council on Women’s Issues.
In 2021, Mariam Zadoyan completed a Master’s degree specializing in International Public Law at Utrecht University in the Netherlands, which is ranked among the world’s top 50 universities in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU, Shanghai Ranking). In 2018, she completed the doctoral academic programme in Law and the qualifying examinations at the Russian-Armenian University. In 2016, she obtained a Master’s degree in Law from the American University of Armenia, and in 2014, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Law from the French University in Armenia.
She has participated in dozens of professional training programmes abroad, including at the International Anti-Corruption Academy in Austria. She is the author and co-author of approximately 30 publications on anti-corruption, good governance, human rights, gender equality, and other areas. She also lectures at the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders.
In 2018, she was awarded an anti-corruption commemorative medal by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia.

Translator at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association
He has been working at the organization since 2004.
He graduated from the English Language Department of the Yerevan State Pedagogical Institute of Russian and Foreign Languages named after V. Ya. Bryusov.
He has nearly 20 years of experience in the field of education. He taught at schools in the Yeghegnadzor and Ararat districts, served as Deputy Principal and Coordinator for Extracurricular Activities, worked as a school inspector-methodologist for foreign language teaching at the Ararat District Department of Public Education, and taught at Mesrop Mashtots University in Yerevan.
He worked as a translator in the political section of the Azatamart newspaper and contributed to the Yerkir newspaper. He also worked at the Armenian Assembly of America’s NGO Training and Information Centre, serving as a public relations officer, Assistant Head of the Technical Assistance Department, and Acting Head of the Department. From 2001 to 2004, he was an editor of the trilingual websites of Internews, an organization supporting the press.
In 1998, he completed the three-month course “Fundamentals of Western Management” at the American University of Armenia.
He also participated in an introductory training course organized by the Armenian-European Centre for Policy and Legal Advice (AEPLAC) and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, entitled “Translation Challenges: European Union, Legal English and Armenian, Legislative Drafting Techniques, Translation Techniques, and Computer-Assisted Translation.”
