On 20 March, Mr. Artyom Mesropyan, representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association participated in the third round table discussion organized by the Mining Legislation Reform Initiative (MLRI) of the AUA Center for Responsible Mining, with representatives of civil society, local self-governing bodies and academic groups.
The third round table discussion was the last in its format, during which the issues of responsible mine waste management, water resources and air quality improvement in mines, efficient mine management and other issues were discussed.
Subsequently, MLRI is going to publish a civil society consultative document, which will include issues and priorities of Armenia’s mining industry, which are grouped into four sectors: economic, environmental, social and labor rights and will offer ways to overcome them.
The final results of the initiative are targeted at the legislative reforms in the mining sector.
