How Can CSOs Receive Funds from the European Union?

On July 18th, Mr. Carl Ulbricht, the International Expert of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project, delivered a lecture on CSOs’ fundraising from the European Union for the representatives of the civil society participants of the CSO Incubator in Gavar.

He presented his own experience in terms of applying for grant projects. He mentioned the existing programmes, told the participants about the right ways to establish how appropriate different project are for a give organisation to apply for. Mr. Ulbricht presented the EU website, as well as other possible websites, where grant calls can be found. He also told about the right ways to use those websites, find grant calls for which Armenia is eligible, and applying procedures.

In his words, in order to apply for different grants, it is vital to know English, as well as to familiarise oneself beforehand with the application guide, the project evaluation criteria, and to present the project concisely and yet  meaningfully at the first stage (concept note). It is also important for the applicant organisation to have financial records, as well as for the project to have up-to-date and innovative ideas.

Based on an example, the participants tried to get familiar with the main project proposal sections, their relation to each other, correct formulation of the title and objectives. They also spoke about including all activities and their respective financial lines, as well as delivering the logical frame accurately.
