The regular sitting of the Committee chaired by Yeghishe Kirakosyan, Chairman of the Professional Committee on Constitutional Reforms, took place today. During the sitting, a number of issues related to the organization of the Concept Development work were discussed, such as separate reports made by Committee members Armen Mazmanyan and Anahit Manasyan, referring to the electoral system/separation and balancing of powers and the institute of immunity of the officials, respectively.
After each report, the members of the commission asked questions to the speakers, presented their observations and suggestions.
Summing up the discussions, the Chairman of the Committee Kirakosyan urged the members to submit the observations on the agenda issues by 31 August.
Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and a member of the Professional Committee on Constitutional Reforms, also took part in the sitting. He noted that he would submit his written observations and proposals on the concepts under discussion in due course. In addition Mr. Zadoyan attached importance to the issue of providing functional immunity to anti-corruption bodies in accordance with the UN Convention against Corruption and the Jakarta Declaration on the Principles of Anti-Corruption Agencies.
