The Armenian Lawyers’ Association Has Launched a New Capacity-Building Project on Electoral Processes

“Strengthening Electoral Integrity and Information Resilience in the Regions of Armenia” project, implemented by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association NGO, aims to enhance awareness and capacities related to voters’ rights, mechanisms of electoral integrity, identification of disinformation mechanisms during elections, media literacy, civic participation and engagement, as well as mobilization in four regions of the Republic of Armenia. The target regions of the project are Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik, and Tavush.

At the initial stage of the project, a Training of Trainers (ToT) is being conducted. Participants from the four target regions represent three key groups: regional CSO leaders, regional media representatives, and regional legal professionals. They are currently undergoing training and will later share the knowledge and experience gained with various CSO representatives, journalists, and lawyers in their respective regions.

Subsequently, the trained participants will conduct trainings for residents of different communities in their regions prior to the elections.

Participants also had the opportunity to attend online sessions delivered by experts from the international organization ADEPT Moldova, Igor Boțan and Polina Panainte. The international experts shared successful practices and experiences already implemented in their country. The training sessions begin with discussions on voters’ rights and their legal guarantees, followed by the role of civic participation in electoral processes. Participants also study tools for identifying disinformation and the key principles of electoral media literacy. The final module is dedicated to electoral integrity and the reaffirmation of voters’ rights.

The training course consists of both theoretical components and group assignments. Before each module, participants are provided with a preliminary knowledge assessment questionnaire, and the same questionnaire is administered at the end of the session to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. Both the theoretical and practical components are balanced equally.
