On December 5, 2025, the 7th meeting of the EU-Armenia Civil Society Platform took place in Brussels, one of the key topics of which was the progress of anti-corruption reforms in Armenia.
A report was delivered by member of the Platform, representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA), anti-corruption expert Syuzanna Soghomonyan.

In her speech, Ms. Soghomonyan comprehensively presented the current situation in the sector, specifically addressing the factors hindering the establishment of anti-corruption bodies and the full assurance of their institutional independence, the work carried out in the directions of corruption prevention and law enforcement, as well as the existing gaps and challenges in the field of anti-corruption education. She also viewed the issues in the light of assessments given by international specialized organizations.
A report on the same topic was also delivered by International Relations Officer and Seconded National Expert at the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG Justice) of the European Commission Marie Delplace, who coordinates the external aspects of the rule of law and judicial cooperation.
It is noteworthy that the issues and challenges raised by Syuzanna Soghomonyan and Marie Delplace largely coincided, which attests to the objective perception of the problems. The reports were followed by an active discussion between the Platform members and other meeting participants.
Within the framework of the visit, the Armenian delegation of the EU-Armenia CEPA Civil Society Platform also visited NATO Headquarters, where they had a separate meeting with the officers responsible for the South Caucasus and cooperation with civil society organizations.
