Legal assistance provided to forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh in Tsaghkadzor community

On October 8, 2024, in Tsaghkadzor community, within the framework of the “Strengthening the Protection Mechanisms for the Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh” project, the Project lawyer provided free legal advice to forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh and presented the armrights.am electronic platform.

The armrights.am digital platform is of crucial importance, ensuring accessibility, centralization of information, transparency, and efficiency. It also contributes to data collection and raising awareness. During the meeting, the sections of the website, their significance, as well as the process of submitting an application and following its progress were presented in detail. All this aims to help displaced persons effectively use this important resource.

During the meeting, numerous issues concerning forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed. These mainly related to the payment of unpaid amounts from previous months of social assistance, the assignment of age-related work pensions, state-provided benefits for child birth, restoration of work books, and the procedure for assigning disability benefits. Citizenship-related issues were also discussed, including the process of obtaining citizenship and dual citizenship opportunities.

The meeting was also attended by Julietta Arustamyan, the chairperson of the management board of the CSO network for the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh, executive director of the “Harmony” Shushi Women’s NGO.

The “Strengthening the Protection Mechanisms for the Rights of Forcibly Displaced Persons from Nagorno-Karabakh” project is implemented by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association in cooperation with the “Harmony” Shushi Women’s Public Organization, within the framework of the “Monitoring of Justice Sector Reforms in Armenia” (www.juremonia.am) project funded by the European Union.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the integration of forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh in their new communities of residence in Armenia by strengthening the mechanisms for protecting their rights, raising the level of legal awareness of their rights and access to justice and protection.
