Today, Mr. Karen Zadoyan, the President of the Armenian Lawyer’s Association, “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project Manager and International expert Mr. Carl Ulbricht met with the representatives of “Community Development through Social Entrepreneurship” Project.
The International Center for Intercultural Research, Learning and Dialogue implements this project in Armenia through a consortium. The lead organization is from Austria, and the members are Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia, KASA Swiss Humanitarian Foundation and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia.
Project Manager Mr. Areg Tadevosyan, Deputy President of the International Center for Intercultural Research, Learning and Dialogue, Mr. Karen Sargsyan, the program Expert and Coordinator of the Education Block of the Project and Ms Satik Bedevyan, President of the Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia were parties to today’s meeting.
Karen Zadoyan spoke about the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project and said that the project should have 9 target areas, 3 areas have already been selected. He also said that around 870 thousand Euros are planned to be provided to the civil society organizations as grants in the scope of the project.
Representatives of the “Community Development through Social Entrepreneurship” Project spoke about their sphere. They said that social entrepreneurship is business activity, which is based on the principle of solving the social problem. It was also mentioned that social enterprises pursue profit, but unlike other organizations and companies, they carry out activities, which will provide more than 50 percent of their profit to the solution of social problems of the communities.
27 organizations from 7 marzes of the RA are involved in the “Community Development through Social Entrepreneurship” Project. “Currently we have come to financing stage. We shall provide about 7 thousand Euros to each organization. It is expected that the overall amount of the provided grants would total to 70 Euros. The total budget of the project is 300 thousand Euros,” Mr. Areg Tadevosyan said
At the end of the meeting the members of the project proposed to select social entrepreneurship as a target area of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project, or consider it as a secondary objective in the area of the development of territorial administration and local government development.
The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO in cooperation with its partners; Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia.
Today, the representatives of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project met with Mr. Sergey Khachatryan, the Deputy Minister of Healthcare as well. The parties discussed the issues of healthcare sector.
