Within the framework of the visit to Vietnam, Mr. Karen Zadoyan, the President of the Armenian Association of Lawyers (hereafter in the text – ALA) and Mr. Marat Atovmyan, the Vice-President of the ALA, met with the President of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen in Hanoi.
At the beginning of the meeting, the ALA President presented the main directions and scope of the activities of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, the course of the anti-corruption reforms implemented in Armenia. Further, Karen Zadoyan spoke about the scope of possible cooperation with the Vietnam Lawyers Association, after which Marat Atovmyan presented the viable mechanisms of cooperation, including the organization of bilateral educational visits, trainings and conferences, as well as the implementation of other joint legal programs.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quyen presented the scope of activities of Vietnam Lawyers Association, including the developing public policies in the legal field, the organization of professional training for lawyers, provision of free legal advice to the socially vulnerable sections of the population, etc. The President of the Vietnam Lawyers Association informed that the Association unites more than 80 thousand lawyers.
The parties discussed issues of bilateral interest and possible cooperation, agreed to start consultations in the near future to determine the scope of bilateral cooperation and to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. The leaders of the organizations appointed persons responsible for bilateral cooperation, who should discuss and prepare the issues for bilateral cooperation. Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Vice-President of the Armenian Association of Lawyers, and Ms Thi Kim Thanh Le. Vice President at Vietnam Lawyers Association will work on cooperation issues.
In addition, the representatives of the Armenian side, accompanied by the President of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, toured the Central Office of the Association.
During the meeting, the Presidents of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and the Vietnam Lawyers Association exchanged souvenirs with the symbols of the associations.
