The 8th International Symposium of Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has kicked off: Karen Zadoyan and Marat Atovmyan from the RA are among the participants

The 8th International Symposium of the Hong Kong Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ICAC), which is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Commission, has kicked off today on 22 May. The Symposium is co-organized by the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, China.

500 participants from 60 countries are present at the Symposium.

Mr. Karen Zadoyan, member of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council, Coordinator of the Secretariat of CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of the RA, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA), and Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Anti-Corruption Expert of the Coalition, Vice-President of the ALA, are participating in the event at the invitation of the Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Mr. WOO Ying-ming, SBS, CSDSM, Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, met the Armenian delegation. Mr. WOO Ying-ming  welcomed the anti-corruption leaders –participabts of the Symposium, presented information on the experience of Hong Kong’s anti-corruption fight, and wished them productive working days.

Hon John KC LEE, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, made an opening address at the Symposium. In his speech, he noted that in the coming days, anti-corruption leaders will hear and discussed new promising ways of progress in the fight against corruption.

“Even though you are from different places, you have a common goal. how best to prevent and combat corruption, a problem that impedes the development, stability and well-being of societies and peoples around the world”

“Although you are from different places, however your goal is common, that is how to best prevent and fight corruption, a problem that hinders the development, stability and well-being of societies and peoples worldwide,” he said.

Please note that in the coming days, meetings of the delegation of CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition o with the heads of anti-corruption bodies of a number of countries will take place.
