The 8th stream of Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders started on 8 July, 2022. 35 candidates were selected from dozens of applicants, from different regions of Armenia and Yerevan. The school is conducted in a hybrid format – online, distance and face-to-face.
Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and Founder of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders welcomed the students, after which the students introduced each other. The attendees honored the memory of the victims of the Artsakh war with a minute of silence.
While studying at the school, the participants will listen to anti-corruption thematic lectures; get acquainted with Armenia’s anti-corruption policy and primary directions, international leading experience and application of integrity principles, components of national identity. Students will also have the opportunity to watch thematic films and carry out practical activities.
Karen Zadoyan presented to the audience that the courses will consist of 5 stages.
“Phase 1 is the online phase. Phase 2 is the advanced phase where you will receive in-depth training on 4-5 topics. Phase 3 is the phase of developing practical skills and abilities, visit various relevant bodies, listen to invited lecturers, carry out practical problem solving and work on your research projects. In phase 4, you will conduct anti-corruption awareness seminars in schools, communities and institutions. In the 5th stage, during the event dedicated to the International Anti-Corruption Day on 9 December, you will present your final works,” he said.
The President of the ALA stated that the goal of the school is to train anti-corruption specialists who will be involved in the relevant bodies included in the RA Anti-Corruption System, will deal with changes in anti-corruption public policies, prepare anti-corruption investigations, and carry out other anti-corruption activities.
Karen Zadoyan presented the innovation of the 8th stream to the listeners.
“We emphasize our national identity and within the framework of the school, students will also study the elements of our national identity. Apart from being a good professional, it is very important that the peculiarities of your national identity are high as well. You can be a good professional, but not be polite and carry out your professional activities in a distorted way. You can be a good professional; you bear high integrity qualities, but not carry the elements of national identity; in this case, your activity will only harm our state,” he said.
ALA President said that the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders is organized by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association without the support of any international or foreign organization; it is the first brainchild of anti-corruption education in Armenia, unique both in its format and its content.
The launch event of the school also took place in a hybrid format.
“The Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO is organizing the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders in cooperation with the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia.
