The Fifth Stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders has been launched

On 19 March, 2020, Fifth Stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders started its training. Based on the situation in the country, the training was conducted in the mode of distant learning.

Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, the founder of the school, welcomed the audience. During the meeting activities of the School and a brief description of the educational program were presented to the students.

The Fifth Stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders has 12 attendants. They are convinced that anti-corruption knowledge is the best guarantee for carrying out an effective fight against corruption.

The students will attend thematic anti-corruption lectures, learn about Armenia’s anti-corruption policies and priorities, international best practices, and application of principles of integrity. The students will also have the opportunity to watch thematic film, perform practical work and studies, as well as individual research that will be distributed with support of the School, publicized and presented to public debates. At the final stage of the school, the students will have the opportunity to disseminate gained anti-corruption knowledge among the youth through public awareness seminars.

Well-known experts in the field will teach at the School under the leadership of Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Coordinator of the Secretariat of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, as well as representatives of relevant bodies and other actors of the sector.

The first training in the distance training mode of the 5th stream of the School on the topic “Description, History, Typology of Corruption. Fight against Corruption and its Stages. Introduction,” was held on 20 March. Mr. Marat Atovmyan, member of the ALA Board, Lawyer/Anti-Corruption Expert conducted the training. The lesson also addressed effective corruption prevention tools, highlighting the key principles of “Good Governance” and the four elements of integrity: accountability and transparency; competence; ethics; and corruption prevention.

According to the expert, anti-corruption education, political will, improvement of legislation, awareness raising, improvement of social status, as well as the formation of anti-corruption mentality in the society and a number of other factors play an important role in the fight against corruption.
