The Armenian Lawyers’ Association remaining committed to its mission and goals, namely to support the development of professional skills, integrity and related skills of law students, lawyers, and individuals interested in law and combating corruption is launching a three-month volunteer program for the law student.
Program Description:
The Armenian Lawyers’ Association launches a three-month volunteer/internship program to foster professional knowledge, self-organization and research skills of the law students. During the program law students will gain:
- knowledge on the state policies in the areas of anti-corruption, judicial and human rights protection;
- theoretical and practical knowledge on drafting legal opinions on draft legal acts, improvement of legislation, conducting analyze on harmonization of legislation with international legal documents, identifying corruption risks in draft laws and so on;
- skills in conducting research and studies in the areas of anti-corruption, judiciary and human rights protection and developing evidence based recommendations on their basis;
- experience in conducting effective public oversight and monitoring of these policies;
as well as:
- will have their contribution in the development of a transparent, accountable, professional public administration system in the above areas.
The volunteer program is intended for 3rd-4th year students and postgraduate law students, as well as graduates of the law departments.
The three-month volunteer program will consist of two phases: educational and practical.
The educational phase includes a series of two-week lectures and trainings on public policy in the areas of anti-corruption, judiciary and human rights, effective public oversight and monitoring of their implementation, legal advice, identifying corruption risks in draft legal acts, conducting research and analyses of international experience and etc.
The practical phase involves carrying out practical work in the form of specific tasks with the support of mentors.
Project dates:
From February 10 to April 10, 2020 inclusive.
Working time and graduation certificates
On business days, from 10 to 20 (or more) hours per week.
Candidates who wish to work for 20 hours or more per week will be awarded a voluntary employment contract and in the end will receive a certificate indicating that the volunteer work has been performed based on the voluntary employment contract.
Candidates who wish to have a minimum weekly work time from 10 to a maximum of 19 hours will receive a general certificate.
Graduation Certificates will be issued in the event of proper, due and complete performance of volunteer work.
The volunteer work schedule is calculated taking into account the weekly workload of the volunteer. It is flexible and can be modified over time.

Requirements for the candidate
- Be a 3rd-4th year student; postgraduate law student; graduate of the Faculty of Law.
- Microsoft office user, including skills to use electronic tools,
- Ability to compile written documents, skills to conduct research and analysis, high sense of responsibility,
- Excellent knowledge of Armenian, knowledge of English will be an advantage.

Selection
