On 16 October, a “Workshop on Assets Declaration System” was organized in the framework of the EU funded “Strengthening Institutional Capacities to fight and prevent Corruption in Armenia” project.
Narek Yenokyan, Lawyer, Anti-Corruption Expert at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association participated in the workshop as well. During the meeting, Narek Yenokyan attached importance to the introduction of the Institute of Beneficial Owners in the RA Assets Declaration System and noted that the introduction of this institute will increase public confidence in the activities of high-ranking officials. The expert noted that the introduction of the Institute of Beneficial Owners is a necessity not only in the area of the use of sub-soil but also in other areas of strategic importance for the Republic of Armenia.
The Project on “Strengthening institutional capacities to fight and prevent corruption in Armenia” is one of the six Projects which constitute the second phase of the EU/CoE Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) programme interventions to support Eastern Partnership countries to counter economic crime.
The main goal of the program is to strengthen the independence of the judiciary in Armenia, the efficiency of legal procedures and access to justice by assisting in the reform of the legal field following the constitutional reforms, in drafting legal acts related to judicial and disciplinary proceedings, as well as strengthen the application of conciliation and arbitration in Armenia in line with Council of Europe recommendations and standards.
