On 5 August, 2019, the Vayots Dzor Administrative Court returned the Vayots Dzor Governor’s claim against the Gladzor Council of Elders’ Decision #44 of 29 April, 2019, declaring the Gladzor community an eco-economic area and prohibiting metal mining in the community.
Mr. Artyom Mesropyan, a Lawyer/Expert at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, spoke at the pavilion of 1in.am about the aforementioned decision of the Gladzor Council of Elders, the powers of the Community Head and the Council in the field of environmental protection and use of the subsoil, as well as the state’s responsibility to adopt institutional approaches in responsible mining area.
