On 17 June, 2011, Mr. Artyom Mesropyan, Lawyer/Expert, representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, participated in the regular meeting of the SRC-SCO working group created to edit the draft laws on making changes and additions in the RA Law on Foundations and RA Law on Non-Governmental Organisations.
Mr. A. Ghazaryan, Head of the Control Department of Non-Commercial Organizations of CRS presented the RA Draft Law “On Making Additions and Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Armenia” On Public Organizations ” developed by the” Armenian Lawyers’ Association NGO and approved by the majority of the participants.
Further, the participants raised a number of issues related to regulations presented in the draft, particularly about the need to request information on the volunteers and the number of meetings in the NGO activity report, as well as the requirement for the number of projects implemented by the organization in the reporting year, as well as the requirement to indicate the amount of funds spent on each project implemented by the organization in the reporting year
Related to the issues presented, Ghazaryan said that he partially agrees and after further discussions, he will definitely come up with a suggestion to solve the problem. According to him, it is necessary to distinguish the programs implemented by the organization and mention the amount spent on each program, which was rejected by representatives of non-governmental organizations.
Representative of “Armenian Lawyers’ Association of ” NGO A. Mesropyan mentioned in his speech that it is very important to come to an agreement as a result of the working group discussions and to have the final, consensus version of the draft.
