On 16 April, 2019, the second discussion on the Draft Law on National Minorities was held by Eurasia Partnership Foundation. Mariam Zadoyan, Lawyer/Expert of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association attended the discussion as well. During the discussion, Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia Vigen Kocharyan presented the revised version of the draft law.
It should be noted that many of the recommendations presented by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association earlier through the E-draft platform for public discussion of legal acts have already been adopted and incorporated in the amended draft. They were particularly concerned with the order of formation of the Chamber of National Minorities, its work, procedures, etc.
During the discussion, Mariam Zadoyan once again raised issues that had not been resolved, mainly referring to the presentation of the final list of national minorities and the weaknesses related to the reporting of the Chamber.
