Today, trainings on anti-corruption and integrity issues where held in Gyumri City for the groups of community and civil workers of Syunik Marz of Armenia. Each group included 15 participants.
Mr. Artak Saribekyan, Executive Director of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association in his welcoming speech noted that the courses are held within the scope of Open Government Partnership – Armenia Action Plan.
He said that within the framework of this program, the Armenian Government and Armenian Lawyers’ Association will conduct trainings on integrity and anti-corruption issues for 200 public servants in Yerevan City as well as in Shirak, Lori, Gegharkunik and Syunik marzes.
Mr. Marat Atovmyan, the Expert of Armenian Lawyers’ Association introduced to the attention of the participants the main principles of integrity and the main conditions to achieving success in fight against corruption. He spoke about the best international practices as well.
It should be noted that noted that as a result of cooperation with the government, serious steps have been taken in the anti-corruption field over the past year. In particular, in the spring of last year, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and the CSO’s Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia presented a roadmap for achieving success in the anti-corruption fight, consisting of six points.
The drafted legal documents were presented and as a result of the joint work illicit enrichment was criminalized, the Whistleblowers’ Institute on Corruption Crimes was introduced, the Institute of revealing the Beneficiary Owners was introduced partially, and the Anti-Corruption Preventive Body was created.
