It is necessary to create a business coalition in Armenia. Mr. Hakob Avagyan, President of SME Cooperation Association says that the necessity of this coalition was particularly felt last year when the Tax Code was adopted. “It was just then that we felt that we needed the coalition so that we were able to step forward jointly for the fight or present business proposals.”
From these lessons learned he attached importance to filling this gap in the scope of “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” project. “The lead organization of the Project is “Armenian Lawyers’ Association.” Five organizations have joined the ALA as well. Currently the project is in the selection process of a university, which will conduct training for NGOs. Further the project shall announce the beginning of the grants’ component, the application format, methods and standards,” the head of the consortium member NGO said.
Expert Artak Manukyan spoke about the directions of the project and said, “The project invested 9 sectors. Now we are talking about the cooperation of agricultural, business, state and private sectors’ partnership in the scope of investments in business sector. These are the three directions of business. A similar is in education and justice. Other areas will be selected as well. If we look deeper there are 9 sectors. It is anticipated that there will be at least 9 coalitions. That is one of the criteria of the project success is one of the existing coalitions, or if there are no such it will continuing the trend of coalition cooperation,” he concluded.
Today, the regular focus group meetings in three directions were organized in the scope of the project. They were: development/state investments in business, agriculture, infrastructures.
