From Electoral Rights to Media Literacy: Training held in Lori Region

Representatives of the civil society, journalists, and lawyers came together on a single platform in Lori region to discuss the issues on electoral rights, electoral integrity, combating disinformation, media literacy, and effective mechanisms for citizen participation in electoral processes.

On 11 May, the third training session of the second phase of the “Strengthening Electoral Integrity and Information Resilience in Armenia’s Regions” project implemented by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association NGO, took place in Vanadzor.

During the seminar, the participants were familiarized with the constitutional and legal foundations of electoral rights in Armenia, domestic tools and regulations related to electoral integrity, as well as the role of civil society organizations in monitoring electoral processes and promoting civic participation.

The participants emphasized the importance of such meetings, noting that raising public awareness is a key prerequisite for the citizens to be informed about their electoral rights, the electoral process, and the importance of making informed choices.

The organizers of the project believe that such initiatives contribute to increasing civic engagement in the regions, developing electoral culture, and building a society which is resilient to disinformation.
