
On 7 March, training sessions on gender-sensitive budgeting were held in the framework of the second stream of training programs aimed at transferring budgetary knowledge to young specialists and developing the budgetary capacities of CSOs/Media organizations launched within the framework of the “Budgets for Citizens” project.
Ms Karine Harutyunyan, Executive Director of the “Center for Economic Development and Research” NGO, facilitated the trainings.
First, the participants completed initial knowledge assessment tests on the theme, after which the expert presented the theory of gender-sensitive budgeting, the budget cycle, programme budgeting and its strategic planning.
The practice of gender-responsive budgeting and methods for assessing the gender sensitivity of budget expenditures were also discussed. During the training, participants brainstormed and shared their views on gender-responsive budgeting.

The trainings were concluded with completion of the final knowledge test which was aimed at assessing the participants’ knowledge improvement level and the effectiveness of courses. These important trainings aimed to enhance the capacities of participants in budgeting, especially in the context of gender mainstreaming and promoting equality.
The training was conducted in a hybrid format, which allowed young specialists and representatives of CSOs and Media organizations from remote regions to participate and gain the same knowledge in the field of budgeting.
The “Budgets 4 Citizens” (B4C) action (8 December, 2022 – 7 December, 2026) is being implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, in cooperation with partners “Economic Development and Research Center” (EDRC) NGO and “Agora Central Europe” NGO (Czech Republic).
