
On December 13, 2024, within the framework of the Council of Europe’s “Support to Judicial Reform Implementation in Armenia” program, an annual roundtable discussion on judicial reform progress was held with the participation of civil society institution representatives.
The meeting aimed to gather opinions and proposals from civil society representatives regarding the program’s effectiveness evaluation and future actions.
The Armenian Lawyers’ Association (hereinafter referred to as ALA) was represented at the discussion by ALA Board Member Astghik Matinyan.
During the discussion, actions already implemented within the program framework were presented, particularly concerning reforms in criminal and administrative procedure legislation, reforms aimed at reducing court workload, prohibition of torture, and training of mediators and notaries.
Opinions and solution-containing proposals were voiced regarding vetting, advocacy, legislative reforms on equality, raising public awareness, judicial independence, and increasing trust in the judicial system, among other issues.
