On December 17, students of the 10th special stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders had an online visit to the Human Rights Defender’s Office, meeting with Milena Toneyan, Assistant to the Human Rights Defender/Whistleblowing Officer. the 10th special stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders is implemented by the Armenian Lawyers Association within the “Armenia Integrity” program through the generous support of the American people via USAID, under the “BlowtheWhistle, Armenia” project and the nationwide whistleblowing awareness campaign implemented by the RA Ministry of Justice.
At the beginning of the online meeting, Milena Toneyan and ALA representative Mariam Zadoyan delivered welcome speeches. They encouraged participants to actively engage with questions and observations.
Then Milena Toneyan presented the functions of the HRD office to the students, particularly their role and importance in fighting corruption. The representative discussed the consultations provided to whistleblowers by the HRD staff, and awareness campaigns about the whistleblowing system conducted by both the HRD and other institutions.
In the final part of the meeting, students had the opportunity to ask detailed questions to the HRD representative. Students were interested in the confidentiality guarantees for whistleblower consultations, awareness-raising activities, and other key functions of the HRD office.
