“Return to Kashatagh” NGO was founded on 21 December, 2020, and received state registration on 22 January, 2021. A group of people, who forcibly emigrated from the Kashatagh region of the Artsakh Republic during the Artsakh war in 2020, founded the organization with the support of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
At present, “Return to Kashatagh” NGO has comprehensively developed the organization’s strategic plan, the board members and the executive director have participated in and successfully completed the online CSO capacity building course.
The strategic goals of the organization are:
- to contribute to the solution of the issue of the return of forcibly displaced residents of the communities of Kashatagh region of Artsakh due to the Artsakh war in 2020 to Kashatagh region of Artsakh;
- to identify the current, legal, psychological, socio-economic, health, employment, educational (non-formal education) problems of the forcibly displaced residents of the communities of the Kashatagh region of Artsakh, and to contribute to their solution;
- to promote the international legal protection of the historical and cultural heritage of the Kashatagh region of Artsakh.
The Armenian Lawyers’ Association consistently continues to build the capacity of the “Return to Kashatagh” NGO within the framework of the new generation NGO model, one of the most important components of which is sovereignty, strategic approach to mission implementation, innovation, creation of added values for the public and beneficiaries, self-sufficiency. Mr. Karen Zadoyan, the President of the Association, conducted the regular working discussion of this series, which was attended by the Executive Director of the “Return to Kashatagh” NGO, the Chairman and members of Board.
The topic of the working discussion was the sovereignty of CSOs. The history of CSO development in Armenia, as well as the classification of sovereign and non-sovereign types of NGOs, and their peculiarities, were introduced to the participants as well. Further, the organizational subsystems of the “Return to Kashatagh” NGO, the strategic plan and the implementation of the resulting programs were discussed.
Representatives of the “Return to Kashatagh” NGO presented their work, future plans and commitment to create a new generation of sovereign NGO.
Similar trainings and workshops will be ongoing on a regular basis.
