Free consultations during martial law continue as well: Armenian Lawyers’ Association

Since the beginning of 2020, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association has started the process of providing free online legal advice to the public at large legal issues. Within this framework, in the period of 16 March until today, the lawyers of the organization answered to more than questions of the citizens.

Consultations were provided not only by the ALA Yerevan office, but also by the regional offices. The coordinators of the offices in Vanadzor, Shirak and Syunik marzes of the organization were also involved in this work.

In addition to the questions from citizens, the organization has received complaints and suggestions as well. If at the beginning the questions referred to the situation created by the epidemic, the circumstances conditioned by the state of emergency, and then to the neutralization programs adopted by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, now the vast majority of questions refer to martial law, conscription, and mobilization issues.

Eighty percent of the questions provided in October were exclusively about conscription and mobilization.

The interesting thing is that with the demand of time, the nature and content of the questions change as well.

Summing up the the activities in October 2020, the following picture is obtained from the 1st to the 31st of the month, inclusive, the ALA lawyers provided free legal advice to about 50 legal entities and individuals as well.

The organization will continue providing free consultations.
