On 24 March, the third lecture of the Fifth Stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders was held. Based on the situation in the country, the training was conducted in the mode of distant learning as well. The topic of the training was “The Three Pillars of Fight against Corruption: Anti-Corruption Education, Prevention of Corruption, Inevitability of Punishment”, the speaker was Mr. Karen Zadoyan, the President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
Karen Zadoyan spoke about the three pillars of the fight against corruption – anti-corruption education, prevention of corruption, the inevitability of punishment, stressing their key role in the fight against corruption. Referring to the mechanisms of their implementation, he mentioned the importance of developing an anti-corruption policy and creating an anti-corruption institutional system. He also briefly presented the “Anti-Corruption Strategy of the Republic of Armenia and its Implementation Action Plan for 2019-22”, which reflect the provisions of three pillars of anti-corruption education: anti-corruption education, corruption prevention, inevitable punishment as well as the anti-corruption institutions.
At the end of the training, the audience received their first assignment. They were instructed to familiarize themselves with a number of key domestic and international anti-corruption documents as well as whistleblowing platforms: https://www.azdarar.am/, https://bizprotect.am/. In addition, in the coming days, each of the listeners will have to present in writing their views on one of the three pillars of the fight against corruption.
