On February 14, 2019, the Armenian CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition and the Armenian Lawyers’ Association prepared a brief statement on the introduction of the institutional anti-corruption system. The reference noted that the ongoing fight against corruption in the Republic of Armenia was carried out through a decentralized system, when a number of state authorities had the power to fight corruption, but we did not have at least one body responsible for the recorded results, including the negative ones.
Taking into consideration that the revised draft for the “RA Anti-Corruption Strategy and Its Implementation Action Plan 2019-2022” was submitted for public discussion, where actually the government proposes to create two separate anti-corruption bodies, the Coalition and ALA have reviewed the brief reference and developed a new statement in which they presented the advantages of a centralized anti-corruption system, disadvantages of a decentralized system, and universal standards that the institutional anti-corruption system should have, irrespective of the selected model.
