On 14 March, the Workshop on Strategic Planning for Business Advocacy Network took place. “Business Advocacy Network” is a non-official union of organizations and individuals, which aims at promoting social-economic reforms and developing private entrepreneurship in Armenia, ensuring the involvement and participation of business community and civil society in developing, implementing, regulating, and assessing public policy.
Participants from Armenian Lawyers’ Association and Yerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry also took part.
In order to improve the effectiveness of the seminar, Ms Carmen Stanley, an expert of the “Centre for International Private Enterprise” (CIPE), had prepared a questionnaire for the participants, and the discussion was conducted on the basis of that questionnaire.
The participants of the event discussed the expectations of the Business Advocacy Network for the next 3-5 years and the activities that the Network should accomplish.
The 3-4 priorities that the Network should focus over the next two years and the activities it should undertake aimed to implement those priorities were discussed as well.
During the discussion, participants proposed different definitions for the motto of the network. They also reviewed the mission, goals and objectives of the Network, the principles and directions for its operation. In addition, the structure and role of the Executive Body of the Business Advocacy Network was changed as well. It has been decided to create specialized committees, for instance: anti-corruption, tax and etc. ALA representative Mariam Zadoyan stated, that they are willing to be involved in the Committee against Corruption.
