On 30 January 2019, a session of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia took place. The first agenda question was related to the election of the Chairman of the Coalition Governing Board, and Arkadi Sahakyan, a representative from the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises, was elected for this position by unanimous vote.
Karen Zadoyan, the Coalition Secretariat Coordinator and the President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, presented the draft 2019-2023 Strategic Plan of the Coalition. After the discussion, it was approved by the governing board members.
The next agenda question was the creation of a Commission for Transitional Justice in Armenia inside the coalition. Movses Aristakesyan, the President of the Centre for Economic Rights, was elected tհe Commission Chairman. During two weeks’ time, he will present to the Governing Board the working rules and activity roadmap of the commission.
In addition, a group was created inside the coalition to deal with matters related to developing membership in the Coalition. Gevorg Grigoryan, the President of the Armenian Association of Young Doctors, was elected chairman. He also is to present the working rules and activity roadmap of the commission during two weeks.
Syuzanna Soghomonyan, an anti-corruption expert of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, presented at the session the draft RA 2019-2022 Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan and the respective recommendations of the Coalition. After the discussion, they were approved and it was assigned to the Coalition Secretariat, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, to send the summary document to the RA Ministry of Justice.
The Anti-Corruption Coalition of Civil Society Organisations of Armenia was established on 28 November 2014, at the initiative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association. It currently has around 97 member CSOs from Yerevan and RA marzes. The coalition was established in the scope of the “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” funded by the European Union.
