On 10 July, 2018, DoubleTree by Hilton Yerevan City Center hosted a national consultation on the project entitled “Research on the Environment for Civil Society in Armenia”, organized by “NGO Center” CSD Non-Governmental Organisation. Mr. Tigran Danielyan, representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and the EU-funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project, attended the event as well..
The research is based on the methodology developed by the CIVICUS World Alliance for Citizen Participation and the International Center for Non-Commercial Law (ICNL). The purpose of the research is to evaluate the extent to which the conditions of the country are favorable for the creation, work and activity of civil society organizations (CSOs), in particular how the laws and regulations on fundamental civil liberties are practically implemented and how they affect civil society. The project includes the following topics: Freedom of expression, access to information, freedom of assembly, effective cooperation.
It should be noted that The EU-funded “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project Manager Karen Zadoyan, President of the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO was involved in the work as a researcher.
At the first stage of the discussion, the participants were presented preliminary recommendations from the above mentioned areas. Further, in the second round of discussions, the participants were divided into separate working groups to discuss the proposals and develop an action plan for their implementation. At the third stage, representatives of the working groups presented to all participants the work they had done and after that the event was recapitulated.
