Forrights.am website conducted an interview with Mr. Karen Zadoyan, the President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, Coordinator of the Secretariat of CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia.
– Mr. Zadoyan, you are one of those people whose name is most often mentioned among the individuals that fight against corruption. Recently, officials began to use the word “corruption” more often. What’s happening? Has the fight against corruption already begun?
– Over the past years people have been constantly talking about corruption phenomena, definite people are mentioned, media and social networks discuss corruption issues, including discussion of the facts of illicit enrichment, and other. In addition, it is a threat for the national security, and this threat was obviously seen during the Four Day April War, when the public really felt that corruption resulted in blood shed. It was a serious signal for the public and the authorities, and it was obvious that the cup was filled and there was a need to find a certain way out to solve the problem, which was the issue of concern of the public.
