On April 1, as a result of instigation by Azerbaijan, military operations were launched on the border line between Artaskah and Azerbaijan. The military operations lasted 4 days during which, in addition to military men, civilians were affected and killed as well.
As a result of the military operations bordering settlements also were damaged.
The Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA), together with the team from Iravaban.net, a news website, operated by the Association, send a delegation to Artsakh on a fact finding mission. Mr. Artak Saribekyan, ALA’s Executive Director headed the mission.
“Our primary goal was to undertake a fact-finding mission. We went to the areas and villages where peaceful civilians had suffered as a result of military operations. This mission will be followed by a report on the situation, which will include recommendations concerning the protection of human rights and concrete actions. Why is this important not only for our organization, but also for the entire community of civil society organizations? The reason is a very simple one. These are the very moments when the community of civil society organizations needs to stand in solidarity with the peaceful population, protecting the rights of the citizens who suffered as a result of military actions,” Artak Saribekyan said in the interview with Iravaban.net.
After summing up the results of fact-finding mission the Armenian Lawyers’ Association shall present a corresponding report.
