This year the Delegation of the European Union is holding events dedicated to Europe Day from May 6 to May 27.
The first outdoor celebration of Europe Day in the RA marzes was held in Gyumri. On 12 May, the Info Fair of projects supported by the European Union was held in the Theater Square in Gyumri. During the Info Fair, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski and Mayor of Gyumri City toured the pavilions and spoke with the representatives of the organizations that implement the projects. The visitors of the Info Fair were familiarized with the projects implemented with EU support in Shirak marz as well.
Shirak marz Branch of the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” participated in the Info Fair as well. The “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union by the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO in cooperation with its partners; Agora Central Europe o.p.s (an NGO from the Czech Republic), Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS, “International Center for Human Development” Public Organization, SME Cooperation Association and Union of Communities of Armenia was represented in the pavilion.
“Evidence-based Advocacy for Reform” project implemented by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA) and European Business Association (EBA) with financial support of the German International Cooperation (GIZ) in the scope of “Support to SME Development in Armenia” initiative was presented as well. The overall objective of the project is to increase the influence of Business Membership Organisations in promoting SME business environment reforms.
The volunteers of Shirak marz Branch of the “Armenian Lawyers’ Association” actively participated in the event organizing intellectual and interactive games with participation the visitors.
On May 9, 1950, the first step to the creation of the European Union was made. In 1985 summit in Milan, EU leaders decided to celebrate Europe Day on May 9. Building on the tradition of the last six years, the European Delegation to Armenia organizes Europe Day events in Armenia to celebrate peace and unity.
