Karen Zadoyan is the President of Armenian Lawyers’ Association
He was elected the President of the organization at the Special Session of the General Assembly on 12 February, 2016, for the term of 4 years. Karen Zadoyan governs the work of the Organization in the period between the sessions of the Board and the General Assembly; drafts and conducts the management of major projects implemented by the organization. His 21-year work experience includes public administration, human rights, anti-corruption and professional spheres.
Karen Zadoyan is the author of the idea of creating and the founder of Iravaban.net independent professional media.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Yerevan State University. He is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia.
Arpine Yeghikyan was elected a member of the ALA Board at the Special Session of the General Assembly on 12 February, 2016, for the term of 4 years.
Arpine Yeghikyan has 11 years of professional experience, which includes advocacy activities; work in commercial and non-governmental organizations. She acted as an expert, conducted legal monitoring and evaluation in a number of projects. She has an organizational and training experience.
She graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Yerevan State University, Yerevan State University and the Public Administration Academy of the RA. Mrs. Yeghikyan is member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.
Davit Abgaryan is a member of the ALA Board
Since 1995 he worked in different projects of the ALA as a project manager, legal consultant, and expert on legal issues, etc.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Yerevan State University. He has participated in different training and exchange programs for lawyers in the USA, the United Kingdom, Poland and Czech Republic. He also participated in international seminars and conferences in Slovenia, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Poland.
Mr. Abgaryan is Member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia. He is co-founder of the Law Foundation of Armenia and Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of LFA.
Narine Karapetyan was elected a member of the ALA Board at the Special Session of the General Assembly on 12 February, 2016, for the term of 4 years. Since 1995 she worked in different projects of the ALA as an Executive secretary, PR Manager, Legal Advisor and etc. Mrs Karapetyan has about 10 years of professional experience in civil, commercial, corporate and labor law and in integrity issues.
She has participated in different trainings, exchange programs, international seminars and conferences in the United Kingdom, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Ukraine, Italy and etc.
Mrs Karapetyan has earned a Diploma in Philology in Yerevan State University and a Law Degree in Mashtots University in 2008.
Syuzanna Soghomonyan was elected a member of the ALA Board at the Special Session of the General Assembly on 12 February, 2016, for the term of 4 years.
Syuzanna Soghomonyan coordinates the activities of ALA regional branches and is Lawyer/Coordinator of reform issues. She has professional experience in human rights and anti-corruption spheres since 2007. Miss Soghomonyan delivers lectures at Summer School on European Law and the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders. She is the National Administrator of “The Phillip Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition” Armenian round.
Master’s Degree (LLM) of Jurisprudence, graduated from the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Armenia; and Yerevan School of Political Studies of the Council of Europe. She is member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia since 2010.
Marat Atovmyan was elected a member of the ALA Board at the Special Session of the General Assembly on 12 February, 2016, for the term of 4 years.
Mr. Atovmyan coordinates the work of Yerevan Anti-Corruption Center operated by the ALA. Has 20 years of professional experience. He worked in the state, international and non-governmental organizations. He worked as an expert in various international programs. He has delivered numerous lectures on human rights, integrity, good governance and anti-corruption issues in Armenia and abroad. He is member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia; member of the Group of Independent Experts on the European Charter of Local Self-Government; and Board member of the Swiss Alumni Association.
Karen Kocharyan was elected a member of the ALA Board at the Special Session of the General Assembly on 12 February, 2016, for the term of 4 years.
He has 8 years of professional experience of which 6 years in the sphere of advocacy. He held senior executive positions in commercial and non-governmental organizations. He worked as an expert in a number of projects; conducted monitoring and evaluation.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. He is member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.
Artak Saribekyan is the Executive Director of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
He is member of the organization since its establishment. He was appointed as the Executive Director of ALA on the order of the organization’s President in 2004. Artak Saribekyan coordinates the daily work of the organization. He graduated from the Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics of the Yerevan State University.
Haykuhi Alaverdyan works as a Project Assistant at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
Ms. Alaverdyan has been working at the organization since 2015. She has previously worked as an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia and a number of other institutions. In addition, Haykuhi has worked as a trilingual Armenian/English/Russian translator and a private English and Russian tutor.
Ms. Alaverdyan graduated from the Faculty of Russian Philology of the Yerevan State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Communication and a master’s degree in Russian Language and Literature.
Ms. Alaverdyan has studied at the School of Polish Language and Culture of the Nicolaus Copernicus University. She has also taken part in the “Migration between Disciplines” project funded by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, in addition to completing a number of other, including online, specialized courses.
Alvard Hovhannisyan is the Chief Accountant of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
She is with the organization since 1996. She also worked as the Head economist in finance departments in the district councils of Lenin and 26 Commissars regions of Yerevan.
She has graduated from the Faculty of Economy of the Yerevan State University, department of finance-credit with an economist’s qualification.
Edward Manukyan is the Fundraising Coordinator, translator/interpreter and responsible for the English Sections of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association’s websites.
He joined the organization in July 1, 2004. Prior to it he worked at “Internews ” Media Support NGO; NGO Training and Support Center of the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA NGOC); “Azatamart” Weekly (political department); lecturer at “Mesrop Mashtots” University of Yerevan; as well as in different schools of the republic. He worked as a school inspector-methodologist of teaching languages in the public education department as well.
Graduated the training course “Translation Challenges: the European Union, Legal English and Armenian, Legal Technical Rules, Translation Techniques, and Computer Assisted Translation Tools” organized by the Armenian-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre (AEPLAC) and the Ministry of Justice of the RA.

Carl Ulbricht is an international expert on ALA’s “Multi-Faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project and has also worked with ALA on a number of previous projects. He was born in London and qualified as an English lawyer in 1993. Since then he has been working in a range of countries, including Armenia, as a legal expert specializing in good governance projects and also as an evaluation expert. His work experience includes advising on business regulatory environment reform in Armenia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, food safety reform in the Central Asian republics, as well as evaluation of local economic development projects in Afghanistan and the Caucasus. In Armenia his many years’ experience includes advising on justice, civil service, social sector and local government reform. He is the author of an English-Armenian law dictionary.
Mariam Zadoyan is the national expert of the EU-funded “Multi-faceted Anti-Corruption Promotion” project implemented by the ALA.
She is a member of the Working Groups established by the Order of the Minister of Justice of the RA to conduct analysis “On the Institutional System of Fight against Corruption” and “Criminalization of Illicit Enrichment.”
She has acted as an anti-corruption, human rights, specifically women rights, expert for the projects funded by the European Union, OECD, Embassies of Germany and US in the RA.
Since 2015 Mariam is a member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia and an Attorney at “Legal Alliance” law firm. Since 2016 Mariam is the vice-president of Armenian Young Lawyers Association. She has a Bachelor Degree from the Faculty of Law at the French University in Armenia and Master’s degree in Law from the American University of Armenia.
Mary Harutyunyan graduated from YSU Faculty of Law. She has a degree of a Bachelor of Law.
She has a practice at the RA Constitutional Court, the legal department of ARMECONOMBANK OJSC and in a number of other organisations.
Since January 1st 2017, Viktoria Yeghoyan has been working as a lawyer at the Shirak Regional Branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
Ms. Yeghoyan has studied at the Gyumri Educational Complex of Yerevan University of Management and the International Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences. She holds a master’s degree in law. She previously worked as a coordinator at the Women`s Rights Center from (October 2015 – January 2017). In 2016, she became enrolled in the School of Advocates.
Since April 2017, Ms. Yeghoyan has been working as the lawyer of ALA’s Shirak Regional Branch also in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project funded by the European Union.
Artur Sukiasyan is the Coordinator of Lori regional branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association since February 2013.
His is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of “Mkhitar Gosh” Armenian-Russian International University. Artur is member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia.
Artur Sukiasyan has 7 years of experience in legal work. He has worked for non-governmental organizations, lawyers’ offices, and the Office of the Human Rights defender of Armenia.
Liana Makvetsyan has been the Coordinator of the Gegharkunik Regional Branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association since February 2017. Starting from April 2017, she has been also working as the lawyer of the branch in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project funded by the European Union.
In 2014 Ms. Makvetsyan graduated from the Department of Law, Gavar State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree and later a Master’s Degree in 2016. Ms. Makvetsyan has worked in a number of non-governmental organizations.
Ms. Makvetsyan coordinates and carries out the work of the branch. She also coordinates the work of regional CSOs of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, gives free legal advice to citizens and manages the distribution of library resources.
Since April 2017, Ms. Makvetsyan has been working as the lawyer of ALA’s Gegharkunik Regional Branch in the scope of the “Commitment to Constructive Dialogue” Project funded by the European Union.
Vache Baghdasaryan, is the Legal Adviser of Syunik Regional Branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association of.
He graduated from Goris State University, Faculty of Law in 2013; Bachelor of Law. In the period of 1 April, 2014 to 1 April, 2015 he worked as a lawyer in Kapan branch of the “Foundation Against Violation of Law” NGO. He has assumed the current position on 1 February, 2017.
Astghik Karapetyan is the Journalist at Iravaban.net independent professional website. She has more than 10 years of professional experience. She is winner of a number of journalistic awards.
She joined Iravaba.net news website in February 2015. Before that she worked in “Yerkir” daily and Yerkir.am information website, as well as was a correspondent for other media. In 2011-2015 she was a responsible journalist in social and legal spheres.
Currently, she is actively working on the articles referring to the juridical reforms and preparation of investigative and analytical articles in the sphere of government procurements that include risks, ensure coverage of court cases and address the problems of the judicial system.
Aleksander Sargsyan is video editor, cameraman and photographer of Iravaban.net website since January 2015.
He is a student at the Faculty of Radio Engineering and Communication Systems of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia.
Gaspar Hakobyan is the driver at the Armenian Lawyers’ Association:
He works with the organization since 2014. He also worked in the Special Repair Construction Company “Vershintrest” as a production engineer.
He has graduated from the College of Economics and Trade, with qualification as a commodity expert (merchandiser).
