On May 27, Ms Victoria Eghoyan, lawyer of the Gyumri office of Shirak marz of the Armenian Lawyers Association, conducted a seminar on “Human Rights” for 13-16 year old beneficiaries from “Nor Luys” (New Light) NGO. International human rights conventions and domestic legal acts were presented to the pupils. The provisions of the human rights set out in the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia were presented. The Articles of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, which have not been changed during the entire period of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, were also discussed.
The seminar was interactive, with questions and answers. The participants tried to present their ideas on what the right is and why the citizens need the knowledge of their own rights. During the discussion the participants got acquainted with the Roman proverb: “Where There is a Right, There Must Be a Remedy.” One of the schoolchildren was interested in the issue of what is needed to become a good lawyer and to properly exercise human rights. At the end of the seminar, the participating schoolchildren expressed their gratitude as well as desire to participate in such seminars again.
