{"id":5050,"date":"2019-08-01T14:24:29","date_gmt":"2019-08-01T10:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/?p=5050"},"modified":"2019-10-24T16:37:50","modified_gmt":"2019-10-24T12:37:50","slug":"judicial-vetting-as-a-mechanism-of-transitional-justice-analysis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/5050.html","title":{"rendered":"\u201cJudicial Vetting as a Mechanism of Transitional Justice\u201d Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Vetting is a<\/strong>\u00a0process where investigations are being carried out to find out whether or not the government officials charged with human rights abuses, corruption and other crimes have abused their official position in the course of their activities?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Vetting<\/strong>\u00a0can be used not only as an instrument of transitional justice but also as an instrument of\u00a0<strong>institutional reform<\/strong>\u00a0or a regular mechanism for hiring, assigning to a position, or promoting in sensitive areas and positions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Persons who hold or serve in public authorities, including the police, national security services, the army, penitentiaries, the judiciary, public and civil service, political office, diplomatic system, and financial institutions may be targets of <strong>Vetting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This analysis, conducted by the Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association, is devoted to judicial vetting as a mechanism of transitional justice. The international experience of vetting has been studied in the scope of this analysis.
