{"id":4542,"date":"2019-07-03T18:36:23","date_gmt":"2019-07-03T14:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/?p=4542"},"modified":"2019-07-04T13:01:32","modified_gmt":"2019-07-04T09:01:32","slug":"armenia-can-and-should-have-its-own-best-practice-cooperation-between-armenia-and-international-organizations-in-the-fight-against-corruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/4542.html","title":{"rendered":"Armenia can and should have its own Best Practice:\u00a0Cooperation between Armenia and International Organizations in the Fight Against Corruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">During the regular lecture of the\u00a0<em>Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders<\/em>, the participants discussed, the participants discussed international anti-corruption mechanisms, including the functions of international organizations, their recommendations to Armenia and their implementation process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iravaban.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/UNCAC.pdf\">The UN Convention against Corruption<\/a> groundbreaking document in the\u00a0fight against corruption.\u00a0The preamble to the Convention states:\u00a0&#8220;Concerned about the seriousness of problems and threats posed by corruption to the stability and security of societies, undermining the institutions and values of democracy, ethical values and justice and jeopardizing sustainable development and the rule of law; and Concerned also about the links between corruption and other forms of crime, in particular organized crime and economic crime, including money laundering\u2026 Have agreed as follows\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Ms Syuzanna Soghomonyan, Advocate, Anti-Corruption Expert at the Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association presented the role of each of the major organizations in the fight against corruption and their recommendations for Armenia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">One of the world&#8217;s leading anti-corruption organizations is the Office for Combating Crimes (UNODC), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/corruption\/acn\/OECD-ACN-Armenia-4th-Round-Monitoring-Report-July-2018-ENG.pdf\">OECD<\/a>),\u00a0The\u00a0Anti-Corruption Network\u00a0for\u00a0Eastern Europe and Central Asia\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/rm.coe.int\/fourth-evaluation-round-corruption-prevention-in-respect-of-members-of\/1680775f12\">GRECO<\/a>) and others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The students were divided into 2 groups and performed practical work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Each group had to answer the question why the recommendations of international organizations are important for Armenia.\u00a0Each answer should become a question and the last, fifth answer should be the answer to the first question.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Syuzanna Soghomonyan mentioned that all of this was important, but one should not forget about the important Armenia&#8217;s sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&#8220;Taking into account the best practice is of course important, as well as close cooperation with international organizations, but we should not forget about the sovereignty and public interest.\u00a0Armenia can and should have its best practice,&#8221; the expert said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>\u201cThe Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO is organizing the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders in cooperation with the Armenian CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/iravaban.net\/en\/66162.html\">Iravaban.net<\/a>\u00a0independent information website is the information partner of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During the regular lecture of the\u00a0Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders, the participants discussed, the participants discussed international anti-corruption mechanisms, including the functions of international organizations, their recommendations to Armenia and their implementation process.
