{"id":3520,"date":"2018-11-19T17:43:08","date_gmt":"2018-11-19T13:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/?p=3520"},"modified":"2019-01-30T12:56:36","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T08:56:36","slug":"new-opportunities-for-business-organizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/3520.html","title":{"rendered":"New Opportunities for Business Organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The questionnaires the\u00a0<strong>\u201cRole of Business in the Fight against Corruption\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>have been elaborated within the framework of the \u201cArmenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms\u201d Project, which is implemented by the \u201cCenter for International Private Enterprise\u201d (CIPE), the \u201cArmenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO (ALA), the \u201cCorporate Governance Center\u201d (CGC), and the \u201cYerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d (YerCCI). 16 business organizations operating in Yerevan have completed the questionnaire and joined the program .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">16 companies carry out various activities.\u00a0translation, engraving, photography services, web site development and internet services, accounting services, auto-moto training, information technology services, legal services, business consulting, trade, tourism, restaurant services and so on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The head of only one of these organizations is woman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The process is not time consuming, it is possible to complete the questionnaire both electronically and on paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The purpose of these questionnaires is to identify the private sector\u2019s attitude towards corruption in the business, the perception of the private sector of anti-corruption compliance, and the measures implemented and planned by the private sector to ensure the anti-corruption compliance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Lusine Nalbandyan, a lawyer for the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d project, noted that organizations were largely unaware of the anti-corruption compliance.\u00a0\u201cThe organizations were interested in the organizations that have intr0duced the anti-corruption compliance program and in which countries such programs are operational.\u00a0They also did not know that the codes of conduct in the Anti-Corruption Compliance Program are mandatory and we will support and develop codes of conduct for each company within the framework of the program,\u201d she said.\u00a0According to Lusine Nalbandyan, according to the participants who filled in the questionnaires, in case if the program is widespread, it will limit corruption manifestations and spreading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Additionally, parallel to Yerevan they have questionnaires have been completed n Gyumri, Gavar, Vanadzor and Kapan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It should be noted that SME representatives from different spheres will be involved within the framework of the project. SMEs will be supported in filling in the questionnaires on capacity building and risk assessment; a 1-day training on basic anti-corruption principles and mechanisms will be conducted; anti-corruption policy development and implementation as well as individual consultations will be carried out..<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Notably the objective of the project is to combat corruption in the business sector, to introduce\u00a0the Anti-Corruption Compliance Standards within the Armenian business community,\u00a0and implementing Anti-Corruption Compliance Programs in SMEs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This material has been prepared in the scope of the \u201cArmenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms\u201d Project implemented by the \u201cCenter for International Private Enterprise\u201d, the \u201cArmenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO, the \u201cCorporate Governance Center\u201d NGO and the \u201cYerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d with financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy. The project is implemented as a co-financing to the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d action implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium comprising the &#8220;Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;International Center for Human Development&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;SME Cooperation Association&#8221; NGO, the Union of Communities of Armenia, as well as &#8220;Agora Central Europe&#8221; NGO (Czech Republic).
