{"id":3510,"date":"2018-11-12T17:37:20","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T13:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/?p=3510"},"modified":"2019-01-30T12:52:34","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T08:52:34","slug":"companies-involved-in-production-trade-and-different-services-have-joined-the-new-program-implemented-in-armenia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/3510.html","title":{"rendered":"Companies involved in Production, Trade and Different Services have joined the New Program implemented in Armenia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">15 organizations in the\u00a0<strong>town of Gavar, Gegharkunik province,<\/strong>\u00a0have become participants of the Anti-Corruption Compliance Program and completed the\u00a0questionnaire\u00a0<strong>\u201cThe Role of Business in Fighting Corruption:\u00a0Armenian Reality\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The questionnaires have been developed within the framework of the \u201cArmenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms\u201d Project, which is implemented by the \u201cCenter for International Private Enterprise\u201d (CIPE), the \u201cArmenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO (ALA), the \u201cCorporate Governance Center\u201d (CGC), and the \u201cYerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d (YerCCI).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Their objective is to identify the private sector\u2019s attitude towards corruption in the business, the perception of the private sector of anti-corruption compliance, and the measures implemented and planned by the private sector to provide anti-corruption compliance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The heads of the three of these 15 small business companies are women.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">These companies include textile manufacturing, shoe production and trade companies, providers of TV service, as well as companies providing financial services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The questionnaires provided to business representatives, in addition to the questions on corruption issues also included questions about whether the company has adopted the codes of business conduct, and if yes, how cases of violations are revealed and so on.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to Liana Makvetsyan, a lawyer, responsible for the CSOs incubator the of the Gavar office of the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d project, the heads of organizations are interested in what they would gain from participation in this program and how it would contribute to the company\u2019s safer work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWhen completing the questionnaires, various questions are raised regarding this or that formulation, which can be assumed that the business sector does not have a very good understanding of anti-corruption programs, undesirable consequences of corruption in business, and the fight against them.\u00a0They noted that manifestations of corruption are often be met in individual-state body dialogue, and they attached importance to the fact that both parties should be responsible,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The following steps will be taken within the framework of the program:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>Involvement of SME representatives from different spheres;<\/li>\n<li>Assistance to SMEs in filling in questionnaires for capacity and risk assessment;<\/li>\n<li>1-day training on basic anti-corruption principles and mechanisms;<\/li>\n<li>Elaboration and implementation of anti-corruption policy;<\/li>\n<li>Provision of individual consultations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Notably, the objective of the project is to combat corruption in the business sector, to introduce\u00a0the Anti-Corruption Compliance Standards within the Armenian business community,\u00a0and implementing Anti-Corruption Compliance Programs in SMEs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This material has been prepared in the scope of the \u201cArmenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms\u201d Project implemented by the \u201cCenter for International Private Enterprise\u201d, the \u201cArmenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO, the \u201cCorporate Governance Center\u201d NGO and the \u201cYerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d with financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy. The project is implemented as a co-financing to the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d action implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium comprising the &#8220;Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;International Center for Human Development&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;SME Cooperation Association&#8221; NGO, the Union of Communities of Armenia, as well as &#8220;Agora Central Europe&#8221; NGO (Czech Republic).
