{"id":3505,"date":"2018-11-08T17:35:16","date_gmt":"2018-11-08T13:35:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/?p=3505"},"modified":"2019-01-30T12:51:15","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T08:51:15","slug":"15-companies-have-joined-the-new-anti-corruption-program-in-kapan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armla.am\/en\/3505.html","title":{"rendered":"15 Companies have joined the New Anti-Corruption Program in Kapan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The representatives of the business sector have started filling in the questionnaires \u201cThe Role of Business in Fighting Corruption: Armenian Reality\u201d, which are developed in the framework of the \u201cArmenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms\u201d Project, which is implemented by the \u201cCenter for International Private Enterprise\u201d (CIPE), the \u201cArmenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO (ALA), the \u201cCorporate Governance Center\u201d (CGC), and the \u201cYerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d (YerCCI).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Their objective of the questionnaire is to identify the private sector\u2019s attitude towards corruption in the business, the perception of the private sector of anti-corruption compliance, and the measures implemented and planned by the private sector to provide anti-corruption compliance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">2 medium-sized and 1 small companies have joined the program and filled in the questionnaires in the town of Kapan, Syunik province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Among them are companies involved in service as well as in production sectors, health and advocacy services. These include: 2 companies involved in hotel services, 2 construction companies, 1 building materials sales center, 4 dental clinic, 1 computer service provider, 1 gas station, 1 transport service provider, 1 industrial service provider, 1 shopping center, and advocate service provider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Heads of only 2 companies are women.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Vachse Baghdasaryan, a lawyer, responsible for the CSOs incubator the of the Kapan office of the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d project, notes that the heads of the organization are not well aware of anti-corruption programs, but are happy to join the program. \u201cThere is a question in the questionnaire about whether the company has adopted codes of business conduct and many of them did not know what it meant,\u201d Vache Baghdasaryan said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Some of them hopeful that this project will make a positive impact on these issues, although some say that the business sector should be responsible for fighting and eliminating corruption in the sector, but there should be manifestation of the political will of state-level as well,\u201d Vache Baghdasaryan said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It should be noted that when completing the questionnaires participants were interested in what the anti-corruption compliance is, and what possible negative consequences of corruption for their companies could be.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Notably, the objective of the project is to combat corruption in the business sector, to introduce the Anti-Corruption Compliance Standards within the Armenian business community, and implementing Anti-Corruption Compliance Programs in SMEs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">This material has been prepared in the scope of the \u201cArmenia: Promoting Anti-Corruption Conduct and Reforms\u201d Project implemented by the \u201cCenter for International Private Enterprise\u201d, the \u201cArmenian Lawyers\u2019 Association\u201d NGO, the \u201cCorporate Governance Center\u201d NGO and the \u201cYerevan Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u201d with financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy. The project is implemented as a co-financing to the \u201cCommitment to Constructive Dialogue\u201d action implemented with the financial support of the European Union by a Consortium comprising the &#8220;Armenian Lawyers\u2019 Association&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;Armenian Center for Democratic Education-CIVITAS&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;International Center for Human Development&#8221; NGO, the &#8220;SME Cooperation Association&#8221; NGO, the Union of Communities of Armenia, as well as &#8220;Agora Central Europe&#8221; NGO (Czech Republic).
