Offences committed by the Republic of Azerbaijan in NKR and Opportunities to apply to the International Organizations

Armenian Lawyers’ Association strongly condemns the outbreak of military violence along the Line of Contact with Artsakh undertaken by Azerbaijan in the period of 2-5 April 2016, as well as the bombing of settlements in Tavush and Gegharkunik marzes of the Republic of Armenia, which, by their nature, are a violation of international humanitarian law and human rights. Azerbaijan does not follow the rules of jus in bello.

Azerbaijan has violated the norms of the Geneva Conventions, the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, the Helsinki Final Act (OSCE) as well as other norms.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is a State party to all international instruments listed above.

This work focuses on and discusses violations of the internationally recognized international humanitarian law and human rights by Azerbaijan, the possibilities to apply to regional and international courts and provides appropriate recommendations.
